There is nothing easier than making garlic knots. Just because they are easy doesn’t mean they are any less delicious. You can sprinkle these with other things like everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds or some Parmesan cheese too…that’s always a bonus. You don’t have to worry about making the perfect knot either…a cute little roll will appear as soon as they are baked. You can prepare all your knots hours before it is time to bake and the finished knots freeze well too. I’d just reheat them until hot and then brush them with the butter and garlic…right before serving.
I served these this year on my Super Bowl Buffet along with trays of Baked Pasta and a big Kitchen Sink Salad. You can’t go wrong go with a big basket of these and a bowl of warm marinara sauce for dipping. They make a great appetizer or game day snack.
I make these on a regular basis and use two different ingredients: either a store bought pizza dough or the skinny dough from my skinny everything bagels recipe. You can whip up a batch of that dough and then just follow the steps here to turn it into garlic knots. So simple and easier on the waist line too. BONUS recipe: if you check out the recipe, you’ll see there is also a recipe for everything bagel seasoning too.
No matter which dough you choose to work with, using a rolling pin, roll it out into a rectangle.
Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut it into 8 strips.
Simply tie into a bow and place on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper or on a silpat lined baking sheet. Pop in the oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and brush with the garlic butter and oil mix. Top with salt and pepper, and any other topping you like. The only other tip I can give you, is make extra batches of the dough (or buy the pizza dough) because this goes fast. You can always make these ahead (just form the knots from the raw dough and freeze). You can bake them frozen (add a couple of minutes to the baking time) and brush with the garlic oil/butter when they are done.
