Turkey burger sliders are a healthier choice when grabbing a burger but that doesn’t mean they have to be bland. The first key to a good ground turkey slider is to season the meat well with salt and pepper. Probably more than you think, so season liberally.
Healthy topping could include lettuce, onions, pickles, tomatoes and/or micro-greens. I used my favs in this recipe (tomatoes and micro-greens) but if I’m entertaining, I might put out a platter of all these toppings and let my guests choose for themselves.
Cheese is my indulgence and I used three different cheeses on these turkey cheese sliders; mozzarella, cheddar and Parmesan. But you could use fontina, blue cheese, Swiss cheese and any other good melting cheese. Again, if I’m entertaining, I might offer a selection of cheeses and let my guests choose their own or better yet, make their own. Cheese is the key to a great turkey burger slider. Turkey can be a little try so the cheese gives it that ooey-gooey deliciousness that it needs. You are only using a little since the burgers are small, so go ahead and enjoy it.
Next up is the bun. I love a nice soft roll with my turkey sliders but I found that a pretzel bun is fabulous. You can find mini pretzel buns at the supermarket (Kings Hawaiian has a good one as so does Whole Foods. The Whole Food’s pretzel slider buns come with salt so you can light wet the tops of the buns with water, sprinkle with salt and toast in the oven for the perfect bite.)
And there you have it, the perfect line up for yor turkey burger sliders. If you like this recipe and have been enjoying Slider Sundays like do, check out some of my other slider recipes:

Ingredients
- 1 Lb. Ground turkey meat
- Kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper
- 1/4 Cup Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 Cup Mozzarella, shredded
- 1/4 Cup Parmesan, shaved or grated
- 4 Compari tomatoes, cut into three slices each
- 1/2 Cup Micro-greens
- 6 Pretzel slider buns
- Ketchup
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the cheeses and put to the side.
- Heat a cast iron skillet over a medium-high heat. Spray with cooking spray. Heat until very hot but not smoking.
- Form 6 mini burgers out of the pound of turkey. Season with salt and pepper. Add them to the skillet and cook until a nice crust forms (3-5 minutes). Flip and cook for one minute. Top each with equal amounts of the mixed cheese blend. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes. Placing a lid over the pan will ensure the cheese is completely melted.
- While the burgers are cooking, toast your pretzel buns.
- To assemble, place a burger patty on the bun, top with tomato slices and the micro-greens. Server with ketchup on the side. Enjoy.
