This recipe is a great way to enhance store bought hoisin sauce. Hoisin is a Chinese BBQ sauce that is thick and on the sweet side. In this sweet and spicy plum hoisin sauce recipe, the addition of fresh plums which are a little tart, the spicy Momofuku and some salt, give you that great sweet, spicy and salty flavor we all love. This is amazing on chicken, pork and steak. I’ve also used it right on the bottom of tacos and pita bread with hot chicken or steak strips (kind of like Peking duck). So, so good. If you like more heat, just add more of the Chili Crunch.

How to make sweet and spicy plum Hoisin sauce
Start by pulling together your ingredients. There are only four, making this a super easy sauce to whip up in the middle of the week. This will hold in the fridge for several days so you can make it in advance too. Store in a small jar or plastic container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Be sure you use a quality Hoisin sauce that you enjoy.
Pour into a bowl if you are using right away or store in a jar in the fridge. Did you like this recipe? If so, leave a rating and comment below. How did you use it when cooking? I’d love to hear from you.
