OK, these are fun little “thanks for coming” treats for your guests. My hot chocolate peppermint shots are a great way to end a night or start the dessert course at your next party. Whether you make your own homemade hot chocolate or buy chocolate milk and heat it up on the stove, this is always a winner.
Feel free to use canned whipped cream or make your own. If you make your own, just add a small teaspoon on top or put the whipped cream in a piping bag with a star tip and top your shots with a swirl.
To make the peppermint “dust”, I take a peppermint stick and put it in a baggie. Zip it closed and then pound on it with a rolling pin or heavy bottom pot to get the finest peppermint dust you can. Lightly sprinkle on top. You don’t want big pieces…just a dusting of the candy.
If you have any kids at the event, don’t leave them out…just leave out the schnapps! They’ll appreciate being included in the festivities.
One last note, I use 2 oz. shot glasses for this. The traditional, smaller ones won’t work as well since you need the extra room for the hot chocolate.
