This Week’s Finds

With Labor Day right around the corner, I’m squeezing every last drop out of my summer cooking and entertaining. The weather is great and cooking and dining outside is on my radar right through Fall. Here are some great finds to make the rest of your summer, Labor Day Weekend and Autumn special.

Having great outdoor friendly dinnerware, glassware and cutlery is a must for outdoor dining. You don’t want to worry about things breaking but you still want beautiful pieces to entertain with. There are great sales right now, and here are some of my favorite finds. Zak Designs Melamine Dinnerware set for four on Sale for $19.99 (that’s 60% off!!) A 32-piece plastic serving set for 8 is on sale for just $34.19 – perfect for everyday meals for the famiy.

For outdoor drinks, these light blue-green tumblers are pretty and functional, and you won’t be worrying about breakage the whole night! They’ll go great with the Zak dinnerware set above. Or these stemless wine glasses work for all kinds of beverages too.

You’ll need patio friendly serving platters and bowls. Here are my picks. The white, 3-piece serving platter set is perfect for any occasion. This two-piece melamine serving bowl set will handle salads and pasta for a crowd.

If you are looking to upgrade your outdoor dining experience and provide a warm and inviting atmosphere to entertain your guests, adding a firepit is the way to go. With so many options available, I like the affordable wood burning fire pit cross-weave with spark screen and poker. I love the smell of burning wood in the Fall and this will definitely set the tone. S’mores, anyone?

Speaking of s’mores, having a tabletop firepit burner (marshmallow skewers included) for an outdoor party is such a fun and smart thing to do. So much easier to supervise the kids while they are toasting their marshmallows and adults can sit and enjoy a warm beverage while toasting their dessert! Elevate the outdoor dining experience with outdoor heaters. Add one or more Patio Heaters to different sections of your backyard or patio for comfortable dining year round.

I have always wanted a set of Adirondack chairs…to me, they just scream “kick back and relax”. In my mind, I’m at the beach in the summer, or around my fire pit in the fall. For summer I’ve got the drink holder filled with one of my Arnold Palmer cocktails and in the Fall, a mug of my Bourbon, Maple & Pumpkin Coffee.

Meanwhile, there have been some amazing new finds over at Etsy (where I shop for all things unique and special. I’ve loving these black and white rough clay bowls – beautiful for my kitchen.

There is nothing like a new basket to make me happy. These French market baskets are exquisite and there are only a few left.

I also love these wooden herb strippers. They’d make a great stocking stuffer for the foodies in your life. (Going on my holiday shopping list.)

Don’t forget to grab what I consider the best find on ETSY, this sour dough bread starter. This heritage starter has been nurtured by a 93-year old San Francisco women her whole life. While she has been the steward of the starter, it is actually a 233-year old sour dough starter. For $7.99 there is no reason everyone doesn’t have it! Fall baking never looked so good!
