Absolutely. I’ll always opt for fresh corn when in sAbsolutely! Prosciutto is a cured meat that’s meant to be eaten without cooking. The curing process makes it safe to consume raw, and that’s actually how it’s traditionally served. However, I do not recommend canned corn. The flavor is just off and doesn’t work as well.
You can enjoy prosciutto both ways. Raw prosciutto has a silky texture and concentrated flavor, while cooking prosciutto (like in our crispy prosciutto recipe) gives it a completely different texture – crispy and slightly caramelized.
Prosciutto crudo (raw prosciutto) contains approximately 70-80 calories per ounce, making it a relatively moderate-calorie protein option when enjoyed in proper portions.
Yes! Cooking prosciutto is fantastic for creating crispy prosciutto recipes like ours. It crisps up beautifully in the oven and can also be pan-fried or grilled. Try it as a substitute for bacon and have it with your eggs. YUM!
Hami melon is a variety of muskmelon originally from the Hami prefecture in China. Chinese melons like this one are known for their exceptional sweetness and slightly firmer texture compared to other melon varieties.
Hami melon benefits include high vitamin A and C content, good hydration due to high water content, and natural antioxidants. It’s also naturally low in calories and provides natural sugars for energy.
While hami melon seeds aren’t toxic, they’re typically removed before eating as they can be tough and don’t offer much flavor. Save your energy for the sweet flesh!

Ingredients

  • 2 Slices Prosciutto
  • 2 Tbsp. Hami Melon, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. Fresh basil, chopped or torn
  • 1 Tbsp. Honey

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Cut each slice of Prosciutto into three pieces. Place each piece into the cavity of a mini muffin tin. You’ll have six Prosciutto cups.
  • Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes until crispy.
  • Meanwhile, finely dice your melon and slice, chop or tear your basil leaves. They serve as a fragrant and herbaceous garnish.
  • When the cups are done, place on a platter and fill with the chopped melon. Sprinkle with the basil and drizzle with the honey. You’ll have six little cups. I serve three per person and this recipe can easily be doubled or tripled. These are little one bite morsels of yummy! Enjoy.
