ingredients

1 Cup Watermelon chunks
1 Mango, cut into chunks
1 Tbsp. Tajin
2 Tbsps. Honey
1 Lime, cut into quarters

DIRECTIONS

1. Place the fruit on a platter. Sprinkle with the Tajin seasoning and drizzle with the honey.  Serve with lime wedges and enjoy!

NOTES: Hard to call this a recipe but if you haven’t had it, you are missing out.  Tajin is a very unique spice and you’ll usually find it right in the produce department next to the fruit.  It is a product of Mexico and it is sprinkled on fresh fruit.  I’ve seen it for years and for whatever reason, never bought it or tried it.

I, like very other TicTok watcher, started seeing it show up all over the place and knew I had to try it.  I started with a sprinkle on watermelon, then moved on to mango.  It is hard to describe since it isn’t spicy or sweet.  It has some lime in it and I served my fruit with lime wedges to bring out that flavor.  It is a pleasant taste and you just wouldn’t expect it on fruit.  Now, I put out a platter of fruit OR individually skewered pieces of fruit before a BBQ, along with my veggies and dip, and people just love it.  It is a great way to put some healthier items on a buffet that are just a little different.

I started adding the honey which is what put it over the top for me… a sprinkle of salt is also unexpected and a nice addition.  If you use it, try a flaky salt lake Maldon.  Try this, at your next tex-mex feast.

You can always start your feast with a Mexican Salad, this Tajin seasoned fruit and  good salsa, guacamole and yogurt dips with chips (Try mine that are made fresh with Kiwano fruit).  Throw together your favorite tacos and you are set for a fiesta.  Try my Shrimp Tacos with Healthy Chipolte Cream & Taco Slaw or my Crispy Fish Tacos.
