ingredients

4 Tbsp. butter

2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil

1 loaf crusty bread, split

1 – 2 Tbsp. Garlic powder

1/2 Tsp. Kosher salt

1/2 Tsp. Dried Oregano

Chopped fresh parsley

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Slice the loaf of bread in half horizontally.

2. Drizzle one half of the bread with olive oil.  Spread the butter on the other side of the bread.  Sprinkle the garlic powder evenly over both sides.  Sprinkle the salt over the buttered side and follow with the oregano and chopped parsley.  Put the bread halves together and slice into thick slices.

3.  Wrap in tin foil and bake in a 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes until toasted and the butter is melted.  Remove from the oven, unwrap and serve.

NOTE: Everyone needs a fast and easy garlic bread recipe… you know the one you can pull out of nowhere in a couple of minutes?  This is that recipe.  No chopping, dicing or looking for anything other than what you have in the kitchen cabinet.

I use good ‘ol garlic powder in this recipe.  Yes, I make lots of garlic bread with freshly chopped garlic and even add cheese, etc.  But this recipe is for fast and easy, middle of the week dining with the family.  No one has ever complained.

You can even make these bread loafs up in advance, cover with tin foil and freeze.  I just pop them into the oven right out of the freezer and give them an extra 5 – 10 minutes.  Your nose will let you know when it’s done.

I use a good Italian loaf of bread from the bakery section of my grocery store.  The rest of this recipe is pretty straight forward.  Looking for fast and easy Italian inspired meals to go with this?  Try these recipes for a fabulous family dinner.
